Hello Customer vs InMoment: Which One Fits Your Feedback Problem?

Anna Pogrebniak 15 min read

Here is the early verdict, so you can stop reading if it settles things: InMoment's XI Platform is a strong text-analytics-led CX suite, and it now sits inside the Qualtrics group after two changes of ownership in thirteen months. We are the independent, lighter, faster route to the same core outcome: customer feedback read properly, ranked by impact and turned into action. If you want a consultative enterprise programme with services wrapped around it, InMoment earns its reputation. If you want the insight without the programme office, and a vendor whose ownership fits in one sentence, that is us.

What makes this comparison unusual is that the two platforms agree on the important thing. Both were built on the conviction that the open answer, the verbatim, the actual words customers use, matters more than the score next to it. InMoment got there through years of natural language processing investment, including the Lexalytics acquisition in 2021. We got there by building ISAAC, our text analytics engine, and shaping the whole platform around it. So this is not a fight between a text analytics believer and a survey tool. It is a choice between two ways of delivering the same belief: one heavy, configured and consultative, one light, deterministic and self-serve.

The rest of this article walks through the ownership facts, then the parts that actually decide the outcome: analytics philosophy, time to value, price shape, follow-up workflows and European footing. Where InMoment is the better choice, we will say so plainly.

What the ownership story means

The facts, calmly. In May 2025, Press Ganey Forsta acquired InMoment, combining it with two other research and CX businesses into a group with more than 3,000 employees. Five months later, Qualtrics announced it would acquire the whole Press Ganey Forsta group for 6.75 billion dollars, and the deal closed on 18 May 2026. InMoment, Forsta and Press Ganey are all now part of the Qualtrics group.

What that means in practice, without drama:

  • The product continues. Nobody pays 6.75 billion dollars to switch software off. The XI Platform keeps running and keeps shipping.
  • The roadmap now belongs to Qualtrics's integration plans. The group contains overlapping survey, text analytics and reputation products from three heritages. Deciding what merges, what migrates and what winds down is normal post-acquisition work, and it means medium-term commitments are hard for anyone to give right now. Qualtrics itself changed CEO in February 2026 (Jason Maynard) and ran two rounds of layoffs, in August and September 2026, while integrating the Press Ganey Forsta platforms.
  • Renewing means joining the Qualtrics world. Not as a threat, as a fact: over a multi-year contract you should expect convergence toward the acquirer's platform, packaging and pricing logic.
  • Ask for things in writing. Roadmap commitments, price protections, data export terms. Any vendor confident in its plans will put them in a contract annex.

If you are happy heading into the Qualtrics ecosystem, that can be a fine outcome; it is a serious platform. This article exists for the people who want to make that choice consciously rather than by inertia.

Who each platform is for

InMoment fits you if you are a large organisation that wants a partner as much as a platform. Its strategic services heritage means you buy expertise along with software: programme design, analyst support and consultancy wrapped around the XI Platform. Its product breadth spans surveys, conversational intelligence for the contact centre, digital listening and reputation management, and its AI features, from Smart Summaries to automated feedback responses, are moving quickly. If you have the budget and the appetite for an embedded partner, the offer is real.

Hello Customer fits you if your problem is turning feedback into action without staffing a programme to do it. You want every open answer analysed automatically in the customer's own language, the topics ranked by impact on your score, and follow-up reaching named owners this week. Companies such as Baloise Insurance and Luminus run exactly that on our platform, org-wide, without a dedicated administrator.

Honest note: the profiles differ. InMoment's centre of gravity is large, service-led programmes, historically strong in retail, financial services and hospitality at enterprise scale. Ours is mid-market and enterprise teams in Europe that want speed, self-sufficiency and one platform for feedback collection, analysis and follow-up. If you recognise yourself clearly in one paragraph, you mostly have your answer.

Text analytics: two philosophies, one belief

Both platforms take verbatims seriously; the difference is how the analysis gets to you.

InMoment's approach is powerful and configured. Its NLP stack, deepened by the Lexalytics acquisition, handles industry-specific language well and feeds AI features the company says cut analysis time substantially. The qualifier is the operating model: enterprise text analytics of this kind is typically tuned per programme, with categories, models and dashboards shaped during implementation and refined with services support. In capable hands, the results are excellent. The dependency is the point to notice: the analysis is something done for you, and changing it involves the people who configured it.

ISAAC, our text analytics engine, is built on the opposite operating model. It reads every single open answer from the first response, classifies it by topic with a sentiment score per topic, and does it natively in dozens of languages with no translate-first step. A Flemish customer, a French customer and a Polish customer are each understood in their own words. There is no taxonomy project and no training period, and the analysis is deterministic: the same answer always produces the same classification, so when you tell the board that delivery complaints rose four points, the number is stable and auditable rather than shifting with a model update.

On top of that sit the two layers that turn reading into deciding. Key driver analysis ranks every topic by its actual effect on your NPS or CSAT, so you fix what moves the number. And Ask ISAAC lets anyone in the organisation ask a plain-language question and get an answer with the customer verbatims behind it, which means insight stops being a specialist skill.

If you want analytics tuned to your industry by experts and refreshed through a services relationship, InMoment does that well. If you want every manager reading accurate, consistent insight this week without anyone configuring anything, that is us.

Time to value: days vs quarters

InMoment deployments are enterprise deployments. That is not a criticism; it is the nature of a broad platform sold with strategic services. Discovery, programme design, integration work and analytics configuration take time, and the consultative model is precisely what some organisations are paying for. But it means the distance between signing and the first insight a frontline manager can use is typically measured in months, and the ownership situation adds a planning wrinkle: some configuration you invest in today may be revisited as the Qualtrics integration takes shape.

Hello Customer onboards in days. Touchpoint surveys go live quickly, ISAAC needs no training period, and dashboards are readable by people who have never opened a statistics textbook. First topic-level insights typically arrive within the first week of responses. The staffing difference is the hidden line in every business case: with a service-led suite you budget for licences and for the humans and services to run it; with us, the analysis layer is the product. If your CX team is two people with day jobs, that difference decides the outcome more than any feature list.

Org-wide access and the shape of the price

Feedback changes behaviour only when the people facing customers actually see it. A shop manager who reads this morning's verbatims runs a different shift than one who receives a quarterly PDF.

InMoment pricing follows the enterprise pattern: quote-based contracts, typically bundled with services, with scope and seats negotiated per programme. Rolling insight out to hundreds of frontline users is achievable, but it is a commercial conversation as much as a technical one, and after the acquisition you should expect packaging to converge with Qualtrics's enterprise logic over time.

Our pricing is volume-based: it scales with the feedback you process, everything is included, and adding users costs nothing. There are no editions to climb and no analytics module waiting behind the next tier. You can forecast the cost from a number you already know, your customer interaction volume, and giving every branch and team access is the default rather than an upgrade. We built it that way because restricted access is the silent killer of feedback programmes.

We will not invent figures for either side, since real quotes depend on scope. But ask both vendors the same three questions: what does year one cost including implementation and services, what happens to the price when we add 500 frontline users, and which capabilities shown in the demo are extra. The shape of the answers tells you most of what you need.

Close the loop: workflows that reach a named owner

InMoment handles follow-up at enterprise scale, with case management and AI-assisted responses that the company says speed up loop-closing considerably. Configured well, especially within its service-led programmes, it works, and its reputation management side adds a public dimension: responding to reviews as well as surveys.

Our approach to closing the loop is deliberately simple and human-in-command. The moment a detractor responds, an alert reaches a named owner, not a queue, with the full context attached. Workflows make sure no unhappy customer goes unanswered, and the management-level loop turns recurring topics into structural fixes with an owner and a deadline. It is less futuristic than automated response generation and extremely effective: some of our customers that close the loop on both customer and management levels report minimum 2.3% annual churn decrease and 11% revenue increase.

The philosophical difference: InMoment increasingly automates the response itself. We optimise for the right human seeing the right feedback fast. Both can work; pick the one your culture will actually adopt.

EU footing and independence

InMoment is a US-headquartered platform serving global enterprises, with the compliance certifications you would expect at that scale and data residency options negotiated in enterprise agreements. Post-acquisition, data processing questions eventually become Qualtrics group questions, which is neither good nor bad, just something your DPO will want to track through the integration.

For European organisations we keep it simpler. Hello Customer is EU-hosted as standard, GDPR-compliant by design and ISO 27001-certified, and we are an independent Belgian company. Your customers' verbatims, which are personal data in every meaningful sense, stay in Europe under European rules without a special contract clause, and the vendor processing them has had the same owners all along. If your DPO has a checklist, our security FAQ answers most of it before the first call. For insurers, banks, utilities and public-sector bodies in the EU, this filter often comes before any feature comparison.

When InMoment is the right choice

We would rather lose a deal than a customer's trust, so here it is plainly. Choose InMoment if:

  • You want a consultative partner embedded in your programme. Strategy, analyst support and services wrapped around the platform are InMoment's heritage, and no self-serve vendor replicates that.
  • You need the full XI breadth. Conversational intelligence for the contact centre and reputation management alongside surveys and analytics, in one enterprise contract, is a genuine differentiator.
  • You are heading into the Qualtrics ecosystem anyway. If the group's combined roadmap appeals, the strongest AI-and-data story in the category, buying in early and negotiating hard may serve you better than avoiding it.
  • Your scale demands it. Global, multi-brand programmes with heavy governance are what enterprise suites are for.

If that is you, buy it with clear eyes, get the integration commitments in writing, and it can serve you well.

Verdict: pick the tool that matches your problem

InMoment is a strong, text-analytics-led enterprise CX suite with a services culture, now part of the Qualtrics group and working through the integration that follows two ownership changes in thirteen months. Hello Customer is the independent, lighter, faster route to the same core outcome: every verbatim read and understood in its own language, topics ranked by impact, follow-up reaching a named owner, live in days rather than quarters, priced so the whole organisation participates.

If your strategy calls for an embedded enterprise partner and suite breadth, InMoment earns the fee. If your reality is feedback that gets measured but never acted on, you do not need a bigger platform or a services engagement. You need a faster loop, and that is what we build. The wider field, including nine other options, is mapped in our InMoment alternatives guide.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns InMoment now?

InMoment is part of the Qualtrics group. Press Ganey Forsta acquired InMoment in May 2025, and Qualtrics completed its 6.75 billion dollar acquisition of the entire Press Ganey Forsta group on 18 May 2026. The XI Platform continues to operate, with its roadmap now set within Qualtrics's integration planning. Gartner no longer evaluates InMoment separately: it was dropped from the 2026 Magic Quadrant after the merger, with Press Ganey Forsta rated as a Leader.

Is Hello Customer cheaper than InMoment?

Usually, but the honest answer is about shape rather than size, since neither vendor publishes fixed prices. Our pricing is volume-based with all features and unlimited users included; InMoment sells quote-based enterprise contracts typically bundled with services. Compare full first-year cost including implementation, services and internal staffing, not licence against licence.

Can Hello Customer replace InMoment?

For the core most teams use, yes: omnichannel feedback collection, text analytics on every open answer in dozens of languages, impact ranking, alerts and close-the-loop workflows, plus ingestion of reviews and support conversations. What we do not replace is the strategic services relationship or contact-centre conversational intelligence at enterprise depth. If those are central to your programme, we will tell you so in the first call.

How is ISAAC different from InMoment's text analytics?

Two operating models. InMoment's NLP is powerful and typically configured per programme, with categories and models tuned during implementation. ISAAC works without configuration from the first response: every answer classified by topic with per-topic sentiment, natively in dozens of languages, and deterministically, so the same answer always produces the same result and your trend lines stay stable. One is expert-tuned depth; the other is instant, auditable consistency.

How fast is time to value with each platform?

Hello Customer onboards in days, with first topic-level insights typically inside the first week of responses. InMoment deployments follow the enterprise pattern: implementation projects and services engagements before programmes go live, commonly measured in months. If speed matters to you, ask each vendor for a dated plan to first insight in a contract annex, not on a slide.

See your own feedback analysed, not ours

The fastest way to settle this comparison is not another article. Bring your own verbatims: book a demo and send us a sample of your real customer feedback beforehand. We will run it through ISAAC live, in whatever languages your customers use, and you can judge the topics, the sentiment and the drivers against what your current platform tells you. If the insight is not sharper than what you have today, you will have lost half an hour. If it is, you will have found your answer.

Curious what your own feedback would say?
